Types of Visas

The Afghan Embassy and Consular Section in Abu Dhabi authenticates, seals, and issues various documents and certificates of Afghan citizens and foreign nationals residing in the Emirates based on the mechanism approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tourist visa

A tourist visa is issued based on the applicant’s purpose of travel and other required documents.

Service visas are issued to service passport holders by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country, based on an official memorandum from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country.

Political visas are issued to holders of political passports by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad, based on an official note from the host country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country.

Visit visa

Visit visas are issued by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad to foreign citizens who are traveling to Afghanistan to visit friends, relatives, or to participate in sports competitions and exhibitions.

Entry visa

Visas are issued by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad, based on the invitation of companies or organizations that have received official licenses from relevant institutions of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and an official letter from the relevant Emirati institution, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Citizens who hold foreign passports and are married to foreign citizens, have a valid marriage certificate or marriage certificate, and have not renounced Afghan citizenship, are issued an entry visa by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad.

Flight crew visa

Flight crew visas are issued by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad to foreign nationals (pilots, engineers, flight attendants, and flight technicians) who come to Afghanistan as crew members.

A study visa is issued based on the agreement of reputable universities in Afghanistan and the applicant’s valid educational certificates.

Entry permit visa

Foreign nationals of Afghan origin who travel to Afghanistan on foreign passports can travel to Afghanistan without a visa under the following conditions:

Foreign nationals of Afghan origin whose place of birth is written in Afghanistan in their passports.
Foreign nationals of Afghan origin whose place of birth is not written in Afghanistan in their passports, but who have an Afghan ID card/passport or identity documents certified by Afghan missions abroad.
Afghan nationals who have renounced Afghan citizenship are treated as foreign nationals for the purpose of issuing visas.

Transit visa

Transit permits are issued by Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad to foreign citizens who have a valid visa or travel document from the country of destination and are transiting through Afghan territory.

One month (stay of three to six days)
